1. What is Echinacea Extract?
Echinacea purpura extract is a product extracted from Echinacea purpura, E. agustifolia, or E. pallida, which is a light yellow or yellowish green fine powder. The main ingredient is phenolic compounds, and also contains a variety of alkyl amines, flavonoids, polysaccharides, and a small amount of volatile oil. It has antibacterial, antiviral, and immune enhancement functions. It can be used as an immune regulator and immune stimulator. 2.Echinacea Purpurea Extract Flow Chart
(1). The production process of Echinacea purpurea (EP) extract (4%) is to beat the original medicinal material into a coarse powder and use 70% ethanol for reflux extraction. The ethanol extract is sucked into the vacuum concentration tank, and the ethanol is recovered to about 1/4 of the original volume (the recovered solution also contains 15%~20% ethanol). The centrifugal solution is obtained through centrifugation, and is reduced to 15 ± 5 Baume (thermal measurement). A proper amount of auxiliary materials are added. After mixing, spray drying, sieving, mixing, and packaging are completed. The yield of the product produced by this process is 24% to 25%, and the content of cichoric acid is about 4%. It is suitable for the production of Echinacea purpurea extract containing 4% cichoric acid.
(2). Extraction and separation of cichoric acid from 1 kg of cichoric acid leaves, adding 5 L of boiling water, stirring for 1 to 2 hours, filtering, adding 20% lead acetate solution to the filtrate, centrifuging, washing the precipitate with water, suspending it in 300 ml of water, introducing H2S gas, heating the mixture on a steam bath, filtering, to obtain a yellow filtrate and PbS precipitate, washing the PbS precipitate with 50 ml of boiling water, combining the yellow filtrate and the washing solution under vacuum at 100 ℃, and concentrating the concentrated solution (130 ml) twice with 80 ml of ether. The ether portion was recrystallized with water, decolored with activated carbon, and 0.4 to 1.1 g of cichoric acid was obtained.
